Students' union zealots demand philosophy society's poll on whether there are only two genders is taken down over fears it will offend trans people

'Students' union zealots have ordered an online poll about gender be taken down over fears it is offensive to trans people.

Officials said the survey by students at Warwick University was 'highly inappropriate' because gender issues were 'not up for debate'.

The poll was set up by the university's Politics, Philosophy and Law (PPL) society on its official Facebook page.

It asked whether students thought there were just two genders, or whether there was a 'spectrum'.

The majority of those who responded said they thought gender was a binary choice between male and female. The PPL society said it had tried to make sure the question was phrased sensitively and that 'no offence was intended'.

But the students' union, which oversees all societies, forced the group to delete it and claimed the topic should not be debated because gender fluidity is a 'scientific fact'.

It comes amid numerous incidents in which feminist activists and academics have faced backlashes for questioning the transgender lobby.

A spokesman for the society said: 'We are surprised. Universities should be places for learning and discussion of all topics.

'Free speech is a key part of the learning environment at any university and our student union's stance would indicate an objection to that free speech. It has left us, among many others, disappointed.'

The poll, posted online before Christmas, asked: 'Is gender binary, or is it a spectrum?'

It added: 'Our aim is to create and provide a platform for academic and political discussions, no offence is intended. Derogatory comments will be deleted.''

Urban dictionary

1) Male
2) Female
3) Something you made up one day to feel speshul. E.g. "semiqueer-bi-spirit-shemale". May use made-up pronouns such as "xe", "ze", "schlee", "nflgsufgshuihousu", etc. Anyone who finds this ridiculous is a bigot and is literally Hitler.
Can you believe that Facebook doesn't feature "transquasi-neutermale" in its gender selection?! This is making me sick. This is making it harder for me to achieve self-realization and be myself!

Is gender a stupid thing?

Can I say I am something else and that is right.

I'll go 2 1/2;  intersex, or hermaphrodite tends to have a dominant gender and beginnings of another.  We don't define it, nature does. Male, female and some in between.  It's not an emotional construct, it's a physical one.

Gender fluidity is a 'scientific fact'? Like the same way that the science regarding climate change is "settled". 🤔

We got some seriously flawed 'science' here then...

Perhaps its only a matter of time before some scientific evidence emerges that amongst the animal kingdom there is also gender fluidity, like gay squirrels, and male swans that believe they can lay eggs...

I wonder sometimes how the 'gender fluid' brigade manage to cope with male plugs and female sockets for their electrical items... 🤣

gender is masculinity, femininity and a hodge podge inbetween

sex is male, female and hermaphrodite

sex is fixed, chromosomes cannot be altered

gender is fluid and has been/is well tolerated by peoples of this land. children and adults daily switch gender and culture naturally reforms redefines and portrays gender healthily.
